Mechanism of Action
Fenofibrate activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha). This increases the production of lipoprotein lipase and decreases the synthesis of apoprotein C-III, resulting in significantly lower triglyceride levels and improved lipid balance.
