Mechanism of Action
Ramipril is a prodrug converted to ramiprilat, which inhibits the ACE enzyme. This prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion.
